Giving to me the first year that I taught Special Education.

They Put a Band-Aid on My Head

They put a Band-Aid on my head
And Said I wasn't well,
They sent me to a special class
To read and write and spell.

I felt as if my brain
Was sick as it could be,
Until I met the teacher
Who changed my life for me.

In this class we talked a lot,
We read, we wrote, we played,
And slowly, oh, so slowly,
The pain began to fade.

When they took the Band-Aid off,
I was shocked to find
There wasn't a bruise or even a scar
No sore of any kind.
